Kirstie Clements edits the Sportscraft Luxe Wool Collection

Finally, it seems the temperatures may be dropping, and what a way to welcome the onset of winter than with Sportscraft’s new Luxe Wool Edit. Be warned – you are definitely going to want more than one piece.

These beautiful, covetable classics are made from the finest Australia merino wools and Woolmark blends, designed to be cosy, chic, and timeless.

Let’s start with the coats. My favourite is the gorgeous Sara Wool Melton wrap coat, fully reversible in two delicious shades of grey. Its minimalist cut and clean lines makes it very city smart, tied at the waist over a roll neck. If you prefer a slightly oversized proportion the Alexa Melton Coat is perfect, with its roomy cuffs and pockets (the finish and the feel of this coat is New York impeccable).  This is a coat, which will impress in the office, (over the Mia knee length knit dress in pale dove grey) and keep you snug on the weekends with jeans, boots and pull down knit cap.

The slim line navy Melton Wrap Coat and Herringbone pants are another urban winner, especially for tall girls and great with high heels. All of these streamlined pieces work well with fine, flat knits underneath  (long sleeved merino wool versions in every colour are a staple at Sportscraft so stock up!). Put black with navy, red with grey, creme with everything!

The other star attraction in the Luxe Wool Edit is the Clara Poncho. Anyone who hasn’t tried the utter comfort, warmth and ease of a wool poncho should start here, as this pretty colour and pattern combination will go with anything, and may just become your winter weekend go to. Saturday sport, Sunday markets, weekday errands, it’s a must have.

While you’re thinking about what goes underneath your new winter coat, check out this very desirable wool wrap dress, which comes in both navy and red. The light draping and neat length is flattering for every figure type and will go straight from office to dinner. Now, I’m going to say something controversial and that is I don’t like the look of knee-high boots with wrap dresses. It’s not flattering to the knees.

Try it with a high-heeled ankle boot or a mid-heeled pump. The fine wool Mia dress is another solution piece, as is the ribbed Marilyn skirt, which I can see being worn with any sweater or long line cardigan, again with an ankle boot.

The sweaters in this edit are sumptuous, especially the Melinda cable cowl neck (it comes in crème and baby pink, but my absolute pick is the one in pale grey).

The minute I spy a sweater like this I start thinking about sofas and fires and tea and… a heavenly soft, textured throw rug to cuddle up in. Which is exactly what Sportscraft have on offer, as their first foray into homewares. I’ve become slightly obsessed with this merino wool throw. I think I need one on every chair.
