I recently spent a day in the Sportscraft boutique in Westfield Sydney, talking to customers about their fashion choices. One lovely woman arrived, and told me that she was looking for a whole new wardrobe (which was an exciting prospect for me!). She confided to me that she had shed some unwanted kilos and was off on holidays to Hamilton Island, so what better reason to celebrate some brand new season fashion.
We started with the basics:
A pair of white jeans (vacation uniform)
A slew of bright beautiful Oxford cotton shirts in pink, lavender blue and white.
A wide straw sunhat.
Then we started having even more fun. We threw in the Audrey Crepe Pant in a pretty navy and pink floral – perfect for lunch by the beach or the pool.
We added a white Mia seamless tank top to go with the pants, which could also be worn under the shirts if they were unbuttoned.
“Now, what if you’re on a boat and it’s a bit breezy?” I suggested. In went the cagoule, which is a gorgeous beige linen parka with a drawstring. Very chic. Perfect over the white jeans. The espadrilles will be perfect for the yacht.

Lunch at a restaurant? We decided on the Ingrid Stripe Linen Blazer in navy and wheat, over the Mia tank and paired with a pair of easy, stripy navy and white silk crepe pants. The wedges worked fine with this look as well. We were on a roll.

It was time for the ultimate solution piece, the deep blue Brenda tunic, in a beautiful linen and tencel mix. Buttoned through, it was great with heels or sandal, but then we had an idea. Unbutton, over the white tank and add a pair of white Martina shorts. Sporty and sexy. And for afternoon glamour? The Victoria maxi dress, just right for walking along the beach at sunset.
