Laid back sophisticated style for the warmer weather with Claire Fabb
This very moment is the moment we yearn for all year long. The sun is shining, the ocean is sparkling and we are finally here. January and hot summer holidays.
It calls for a cool laid back sophisticated style that can work for days by the beach to back yard summer bbq’s.
I love a great take on layering and I think the Quinn linen dress and the Rosa linen shorts both offers so much more than simply a short and dress. Wonderful on their own these items are amazing together.
The sleeveless dress is a beautiful wardrobe addition in a light linen with a thin pinstripe and I’ve styled this with the a nod to the pyjama trend we have seen on the streets of New York and Paris. (It’s not about adopting a trend where the trend wears you, but how you can subtly wear it in your own way.)
Here I’ve layered this dress, unbuttoned to the waist over the Rosa shorts in the same linen fabric. The longer line dress creates fluidity when it’s unbuttoned and worn as a long-line shirt. You can also adjust the length of the shorts by turning over the waist if you prefer a shorter length and by rolling up the legs.
An alternative option to wearing this look is by wearing it completely open with a fitted singlet underneath. Am I channeling Amal Clooney on her honeymoon? ( Trying to!)
One of the most enjoyable parts of my job when looking through clients’ wardrobes is seeing how their favourite pieces can be worn different ways. If you love fashion and want to utilize more of what you already own this is just one example of how. (Places to get additional inspiration is via magazines and how-to styling videos.)
Right now this is my summer go-to. An easy, breezy, stylish look where 2 pieces can be worn many, many ways.
Summer is such a wonderful time to embrace fashion and we have the most incredible weather. It’s about wearing the right fabrics, shapes to suit your body types and reflecting a look within your personal style.
Together or alone, these are two of my favourites.
