I happily welcome this time of year. A time when the sun shines that bit brighter and the prospect of summer doesn’t seem so distant, a time when models hit the runway showcasing our spring/summer must haves and a time when we can finally pack away those layers and layers of winter clothing. Spring is here and new season trends are a plenty.
Feminine pinks, a 90’s influence with slouchy low rise trousers, light weight trenches, off the shoulder tops and the return of tie-dye. Take your pick, there are an abundance of new trends. However, the trick is knowing how to introduce these new trends into your wardrobe, creating the perfect spring capsule collection. All while not forgoing your own personal style.

Here are my tips for new season spring/summer dressing. Keeping your looks relaxed, chic and right on point.
- Less is more. I have always believed in elegance over extravagance, making a statement with pieces you choose to wear rather than the O.T.T razzle dazzle. It’s about adopting a single trend of the moment and subtly introducing it into your everyday outfit. Whether it be through the accessories you choose to wear or with a statement heel; dressing in trends does not mean head to toe. Rather simplicity is key to spring/ summer dressing so don’t feel overwhelmed with having to incorporate all trends at once.
- The spring knit. Knits ruled the trend game this winter and it is no different for spring. This sleeveless knit is the perfect piece to see you through the 4-seasons-in-one-day period; light, easy to wear, the perfect colour and adheres to the huge trend of the moment ‘the cold shoulder’ phenomenon. Paired with trousers, shorts, denim or a skirt – this piece will have you covered week day to weekend.
- Tonal hues. Tan and camel hues are everywhere this spring/summer, it’s a natural shade made to compliment any sun kissed skin tone. Add an exotic, luxurious appeal to your outfit by pairing camel with hints of metallic (preferably gold), it’s the ultimate pairing.
- The spring trouser. Spring/summer welcomes a fresh approach to your wardrobe. Keeping your pieces light, relaxed, clean and versatile. One piece in my spring/summer wardrobe that I cannot live without are my white trousers. They are such a welcomed change from wearing black and add such a chic element to any outfit. And if you dare, pair these white trousers with a white tee for a total white out. It’s spring dressing at its best and nothing says chic like the cool tones of white.
Transitioning between seasons can be difficult and can make getting dressed in the morning that much harder. The key is knowing your style and keeping it consistent in the new season!
